John S. Salter Jr.

John S. Salter Jr. began working in wetlands in 2010 while earning his Master’s Degree in Biology. He completed a grant funded project studying endangered wetland fish species and the associated vegetation. During school, he also worked on wetland mitigation with the US Navy and endangered gopher tortoises with the US Air Force. After graduation, John worked for Environmental Audit & Assessment as a biologist with forestry, wildlife management, and wetland surveys. He relocated to the Lowcountry in 2014 to work for Clemson University conducting research in the forested wetlands and saltmarshes of the Waccamaw Neck and Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. For the past 18 months, John has been maintaining ponds with fish stocking and chemical vegetation control.
